Week 8 | Service

January 27, 2020

This week was not teaching oriented... we didn't teach anyone, which is a little sad, but we were able to do some service. I did someone's dishes, and I bet she hadn't done her dishes in two months, we were doing dishes for like three hours. I just whistled songs to myself the whole time and didn't think about what I was doing.

A couple days later the lady had us come back and do some weeding around her house. That was a little more my speed. I saw what an aloe vera plant looks like and they're pretty weird. They have a bunch of weird jelly inside them. The lady told us to throw the weeds and stuff that we trimmed into a gully behind her flat. The gully looked pretty cool. Don't worry I took pictures.

On my first exchange of the week, Elder Schwab and I painted a long long metal fence in Morrinsville (that's his area) and it took almost four hours, but service is very important as a missionary and I would much rather paint than have doors closed on me for four hours.

On the second exchange, we were in my area and I thought It would be a good idea to go try to find people to teach by the lake which I haven't done yet, but the only thing we found was sweat and people saying they weren't interested.

I was able to walk around and get to know just how bad the road layout is in.my area though, pretty much half of the roads are dead ends, so when I was trying to walk back to the flat, we had to turn back a few times. I think a monkey could have drawn a better road layout than what they have here. We eventually got back to the flat and after we ate, we decided to stay a bit closer to the flat and just tried knocking some doors in my little neighborhood. We didn't find anybody, but I had a funny experience.

I knocked on a door, and a girl opened the door, I asked if her parents were home, because I thought she looked like she was at most 14, and she said that she was the homeowner. Long story short, she closed the door on us and now I have a memory.
Anyway, I love and miss you all and hope you are all doing well, feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments.

I saw a train, I didn't get a chance to take a zoomed in picture of it, but here is what I got

Elder Schwab and I found a field hockey stadium and then went in and used the restroom, of course.
