Week 7 | Exchanges

January 19, 2020

This week was wild, someone in our district had a baptism, and we helped set up for it. We also had nobody keep their appointments this week, which makes me sad, but I guess they're just not ready to hear more yet. We had sports night on Friday and I'm getting pretty good... well, not good, but I've improved. I had my first experience biking on Saturday, and yes it was my birthday, but I told people not to do anything for it, but my companion goes all out for birthdays and he wants to celebrate it at district council. I thought I got out of a birthday party this year.
My hatred of biking up or down hills and biking in general, has increased, and the stupid chain kept jumping off the gears when I tried to pedal up the hill, so by the end of the day, I was about ready to throw it in the trash. There's a reason the area is called Sunny hills, that's all that's there. Exchanges with Morrinsville went really good though (they have a car) I was with Elder Schwab, and we just walked around the town twice talking to people and street contacting. Elder Schwab also broke their sim card so we had to walk all the way to their chapel( they've driven too much already this month) it was only about a 30 minute walk. We just talked about stuff from back home and stuff that I don't want to put in my email. Anyway, the moral of the story is, don't try to jam a big sim card into a small sim card tray.
I tried sushi this week, it had chicken and rice, some of it had peri peri(an awesome sauce that is kind of spicy) and some of it was teriyaki. I bought 20 of them, now I know what you're saying, but, hey it was my birthday. And I biked it all off later that day, because Elder Cook was a long distance runner back home and doesn't even weigh 100 pounds, so I just tried to keep up, and even though I was sick I didn't wreck, this time. I did get a little burnt, but I'm proud of it, I earned it, and I can always put on sunscreen later, jokes. I'll try to remember to put sunscreen on next time.
I know this email is long as, (that's something they say here, they say an adjective and put "as" after it) it's weird, but I gotta embrace the culture, right, anyway, I've got to get back to work

I Love and miss you all
I hope you had a great week
